The Long-shore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) is a federal law that provides medical care & compensation to employees who are injured or who contract occupational diseases  while working on the navigable waters of the United States and adjoining areas. The LHWCA covers workers employed in maritime occupations, including long-shore workers, harbor workers, ship repairers, shipbuilders, and ship-breakers.
